Margaret M
Collyer
Mar 11, 1925 — Mar 2, 2023
Margaret M (Hebel) Collyer Age 97
Margaret (Marge) Born Chicago, IL on March 11, 1925, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love. Marge was raised with her brother Joe in Chicago, IL by their parents Joseph J and Gabriele (Ella) Hebel.
A gifted draftsperson by trade, Marge worked for the top mapping and engineering firms, Rand McNally and DeLeuw Cather where she met her future husband Robert while in Chicago and later transferred to the San Francisco, CA office. They wed in 1960 and honeymooned at Sqaw Valley Ski resort during the Olympics. 1962 brought their only son, Bryan. The California coast and inland lakes is where Marge felt at home, hiking the hills or camping and boating on Lake Berryessa. A move to Northern VA in 1972 followed another move to the Daytona Beach area in 1984 where she and Bob settled in Spruce Creek Fly-In. Bob took up flying and bought a small airplane and Marge decided to get her pilot's license at the age of 60 and be part of the Ninety-Nines organization. Her son, Bryan has voted her "Best Mom in the Word" for 60 years and if you had the chance to meet her you would understand why. She loved and cared deeply for those around her, especially her grandkids and daughter in-law. She will be missed daily but lives in our hearts forever.
She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert, her parents Joseph and Ella, brother Joe, nephew Jack Hebel and sister in-law Carol Brower. Marge is survived by her son, Bryan (Melanie); granddaughter Nicole; grandsons Steven and Mathew Staudt; brother in-law Allen; nephews and nieces Joe, Alex-ann, Larry, Jane, Christina, Murry, Cindy, Evan and families.
Funeral Services with visitation will be held at 10:30-noon, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange followed by a Graveside Blessing and Burial at Spruce Creek Cemetery.
