Mamie was known for her beautiful smile and the love of her church Greater Friendship Baptist Church. She was the beloved wife of John H. Gainey for 24 years loving mother of Andrew (Barbara) Hay Jr. loving step- mother of Norma Jackson Carol (Wesley) Young and Toni Polite.
