Maj. Francis (Frank) Sadowski 91 died on October 16 at his home in Daytona Beach Florida. He was born in Wilmington Delaware where he graduated from Salesianum High School in 1938 and married his sweetheart from junior high Anna Ackerman. He and Anna whom he always jokingly described as "the woman I'm living with at the moment " showed remarkable and steadfast devotion to each other during nearly 70 years of married life.

After serving as a bombardier in World War II and being awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal Frank re-entered active duty in the Air Force during the Korean War and decided to make a career of military service. His fine analytic mind qualified him for work in military intelligence where he served with distinction at posts in England Germany South Vietnam and the United States earning the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam and the Joint Service Commendation Medal from the Department of Defense and National Security Agency. Frank's fondness for English pubs and steeple chasing and for his many British friends led him and Anna back to Gloucestershire where they lived from the time of his retirement in 1969 until 1993.

Frank was a great storyteller and someone who always saw the lighter side of life. He will also be remembered for his generosity his sense of honor and his loyalty to his country and to his Catholic faith.

Besides his wife Anna Frank is survived by daughter Mary Anne Ericson and her husband Randy of Portland Oregon; son Frank Sadowski and his wife Laura Kennard also of Portland; and daughter Catherine Toms and her husband Derek of Ormond Beach Florida. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Lisa and Nora Ericson and their spouses Josh Keyes and Max Perelman; Keith Sadowski and his wife Katie Thompson and Alison and Craig Sadowski; as well as one great-grandson Ry Perelman. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Edward Sadowski and his sister Mary Sadowski Boyer.

A Mass will be held on October 24 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Church in Port Orange. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery in Greenville Delaware at a later date.
