Obituary

"No Words of sympathy can ease the hurt that is ours but thoughts and memories last as time endures."

Major N. Hairston, Jr. , son of the late Major, Sr. and Mary Lee Hairston was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He matriculated at Drexel University and AIRCO Technical in Pennsylvania where he earned a Metallurgist License in Fitting/Steel Fabrication.  His work experience entailed Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ for 15 years and Schlosser Steel in Hatfield, Pennsylvania for 34 years until his retirement.

"Maj" or Major was known for his kindness, gentleness and his infectious laughter. The seed that he's left for all was his love to mankind and concerns for all.  A tireless worker in all that he did, in loving the Lord, golf, family, friends and sowing appreciation in helping others.

He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Sondra Alexander Hairston, PhD, of 51 years and relationship of 55 years, marrying his childhood sweetheart on July 2, 1966. A son, Derek Hairston (Dawn); daughter, Conya Hairston; seven grandchildren, Devon, Dakar, Dyani, Jaden, Dion, Damaris, and Darius; his siblings, Joann Hairston MBA, Preston Hairston, Kenneth Hairston (Peggy), Yvonne Cheeks, MS (Johnnie); brother-in-law, Rev. Lawrence Houston (Priscilla); sister-in-law, Dr. Ramona Rodgers.

Close Cousins, Harold Holt (Maryland), Cynthia Tompkins Esq., and Linda Reddick.  Godchildren, Bruce, Mark, Jason and Dereema.  He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and grand nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday June 16, 2018 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday June 16, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
