Magnolia "Maggie" J. Upson 74 Ormond Beach passed away Monday May 26 2008. Calling hours are from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday June 1 2008 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday June 2 2008 at First United Methodist Ormond Beach 336 S. Halifax Dr. at 11:00am with a reception immediately following. Born June 13 1933 in Huntsville AL to Thomas & Anna Johnson Maggie was the 5th of 8 children. She graduated from Huntsville High School in 1951. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church Huntsville where she married her husband of over 48 years Richard B. Upson. She and Richard moved to Florida in 1962. In addition to providing a loving home for her family Maggie helped with the family millwork business as secretary/bookkeeper. She later became the receptionist and financial secretary at First United Methodist Ormond Beach where she greeted everyone with a smile. For over 30 years Maggie volunteered with the Boy Scouts. Her hobbies have included singing ceramics and camping. She was known for her scrumptious southern cooking especially her Mississippi Mud Cake. She will always be remembered for her quick wit never meeting a stranger and enjoying life. She is survived by her husband Richard; sons: Rick Scott and his wife Alisa; daughter Beth; brother John Johnson and sister Patricia Johnson both of Huntsville AL.
