Funeral services for Mabel C. Miller 83 of Daytona Beach who passed away on December 30 2006 will be held at 1 pm Thursday January 4 2007 at the Baggett & Summers chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday January 3 2007. Mabel was born on March 3 1923 to the late Ewen and Goldie Countiss in Pound Virginia. She lived in Danville Virginia for 27 years and for 10 years she worked for the City of Danville in the financial department until retiring to Daytona Beach. Mabel was very active in the community and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Daytona Beach Golf Association (Forty 9'ers) Newcomer's Bridge Club and Port Orange Women's Bridge Club. She was a member of the Wagon Wheel Bridge Club for many years where she also served as treasurer and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. Mabel leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 56 years Ollin; sisters Hazel Martell of Washington and Nina Cantrell of Virginia; brother Kyle Countiss of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. There has been no one who ever met her whose life was not touched in a special way.
