Lula was born to the late Efstathios and Efthemia Klonaris of Kalymnos, Greece. She was a very successful advertising representative with the News Journal for 43 years. She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and The Daughters of Penelope. Lula loved reading and enjoyed being a member of the book club with friends and family. Her passions included playing poker, visiting the casinos, and foremost her love of traveling the world with her nieces and great niece, visiting such places as the Islands, Alaska, the Smokey Mountains, Egypt, Russia and many countries throughout Europe. Lula was an inspiration to everyone that knew her and people of all ages had the natural tendency to gravitate towards being near her side.
She will be lovingly missed by her two daughters, Pamela (Nicholas) Klonaris, Nassau, Bahamas, Victoria (Harold) Kaniaris and son, Harold (Paula) Creticos, both of Ormond Beach. Her grandchildren, Tara Holcombe, Mike Klonaris, Elias (Frany) Kaniaris, Nicholas (Tina) Kaniaris, Alexandra Kaniaris, Patrick Demetrios (Dina) Creticos, Alesia Creticos and Gabrielle Creticos, will miss their Yiayia very much, as well as her adoptive grandchildren who lovingly called her Yiayia. Big Yiayia always marveled at having her great-grandchildren, Robert, Isabella, Eva, Eden, and Evelyn by her side. Lula was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Harold Creticos in 2004.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Lula's memory to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or donors@stjude.org
