Luigi (Lou) Schiano Lomoriello died May 03, 2023 in Ormond Beach, Florida. The son of Andrea S. Lomoriello and Josephine Esposito Lomoriello, Lou was born in Brooklyn, New York, and always considered himself a Brooklynite regardless of where he lived or travelled. With the exception of a short period in Providence, RI Lou spent his childhood in his beloved Brooklyn. From the age of fourteen Lou knew he wanted a career at sea and he signed on for his first voyage as a fifteen year old. After being convinced by his father that life would be tough as a cabin boy, he came ashore and enrolled at the Metropolitan Vocational High School and reported aboard its school ship the SS John Brown. After high school he attended and proudly graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy.

After graduation he immediately went to sea and spent the majority of his career travelling the world aboard merchant ships, rising from 3rd Mate, and retiring as Capitan. Throughout his sailing career Lou became well known for his easy-going manner, his love for food and creating a comradery among his crew, from the AB to the 1st Mate. Lou loved everyone on the ship, and everyone loved Lou.

In 1964 while picking up cargo in Lisbon, Portugal, Lou met Isilda Constantino, and started a four-year courtship, leading up to their marriage. Lou and Isilda initially lived in Brooklyn, but moved to South Portland, Maine in 1968. In 1980 Lou moved his family to Ormond Beach Florida where he would retire at the age of 62. He enjoyed spending time fishing and at home with his family. At home Lou is well known for his love for food and drink. You could not be around Lou for long without having your glass filled laughing at jokes or stories of the past. Lou lived an amazing life, traveled the world, and got to live his day's on his terms, surrounded by his loving family.

Lou is survived by Isilda, his wife of 56 years, his daughter Cameo Chamberlain, his son, Jason Lomoriello, and his four loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Felipe, Anna, and Joaquim.

He would have different assignments throughout his career: 1976-1999 Sea Land Service Inc, One of the World's leading Container Ship Company's. 1988-1999 – Master S/L Challenger, Sailing Pacific and Caribbean. 1986-1988 Master S/L Enterprise, Sailing Pacific. 1984-1986 Master USNS Antares, Participated in REFORGERS
