Lucy M. Suhr, 90, of Amsterdam, NY, and Palm Coast, FL, passed away January 13, 2021, at Advent Health Hospital, Palm Coast, after a brief illness.

Born June 29, 1930, in Brookfield, NY, she was the daughter of Stanilaus Wiencek and Ludwica Skrzyniarz Wiencek. She graduated from West Winfield Central School where she took art courses and loved playing basketball, softball, field hockey, and archery. She received an Associate Degree from the New York State Institute of Applied Arts & Sciences in Utica, NY, now Mohawk Valley Community College. She worked for the Boston Store in Utica and after college went to work for Myers Brothers in Paterson, NJ.

Lucy was a well-known local artist and was a member of the Amsterdam Art League, Schenectady Art League, Central New York Art League, and the Flagler Art League in Florida. She was president of the Amsterdam Art League for 20 years. Her paintings are distributed throughout the area in private homes and businesses. She restored the mural in the Amsterdam Post Office and artwork in area churches. She most recently taught Chinese Brush painting in Amsterdam and Schenectady. She received a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Fine Art from Empire State College in 1980. She was involved in the Girl Scouts serving as leader, association chairman, and on the board of directors for 30 years. She especially liked tending to her flower and vegetable garden every summer.

Lucy met her husband, Frederick A. Suhr, at college, and they were married on December 17, 1950. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling together after Fred's retirement, including Poland and Germany. She was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Amsterdam, for over 50 years.

Lucy is predeceased by her parents, sisters Dorothy Coleman and Rosemary Wiencek, and brothers Raymond Wiencek and Edward Wiencek.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick A. Suhr, son Eric Suhr (Laurie Cohen), daughters Linda Stuczko, Wendy Dolfi (Ronald), Betsy Lewis, Susan Morris (Seymour), and Christine Suhr; eight grandchildren, Shannon Cozzi (Christopher), Laura Cohen (Chester), Alan Morris, Lindsey Morris, Matthew Dolfi, Robert Dolfi, Joseph Lewis, and John Lewis; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Cozzi, Brandon Cozzi, Julianna Cozzi, Miriam Cohen, and Henry Cohen; sister-in-law Jennie Wiencek; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
