Lucy Sorbara Knapp of Ormond Beach, Florida passed in peace on August 24, 2026, at Ormond Manor in Ormond Beach. She was born in Wilmington Delaware on May 31, 1934 to the late Domenick and Catherine Sorbara. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's Catholic High School. On April 14, 1956 she married Charles Knapp of Wilmington, Delaware.
She retired after many years of work she enjoyed, her most recent employment with Duke Energy and Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL. She was active in her Church and choir for many years.
Lucy is survived by her children, Charles Knapp of St. Petersburg, Florida, Catherine Knapp-Cook (Christopher) of Mt. Crawford, VA, Joanne Knapp of Sandy Springs, GA, Alexis Ramer of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jennifer (James) Crock of Ormond Beach, FL; Sisters Josephine Regan of Wilmington, DE and Rosemarie Pullella of Wilmington, DE, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lucy is preceded in death by her son Geoffrey Glenn Knapp, Charles C. Knapp, brother Rosario Sorbara of Wilmington, DE and sister Anne Maguire of Wilmington, DE.
Lucy will be remembered as a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She enjoyed writing, playing the piano, singing, cooking and baking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of learning to play the piano. She was an accomplished seamstress and made beautiful clothing and costumes for her children.
Lucy was known for a sense of humor that often surfaced at the most unexpected moments, and for her whimsical flights of imagination.
Services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, FL and Queen of the Apostles Chapel in Wilmington, DE at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, FL.
