Obituary

Local memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday Jan. 21 2006 at Church of Christ Holy Hill 1725 Ridgewood Avenue US1 for Lucille Tutwiler Freedman. Mrs. Freedman 79 Ormond Beach FL died October 15 at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial. A private funeral and burial was held in Harrisonburg VA on October 19. Mrs. Freedman was born March 16 1926 in Yeager WV and was the daughter of the late Herman and Florence Tutwiler. Mrs. Freedman moved to the Ormond Beach area from Wallingford CT in 1958 with her husband the late Dr. Robert Harrison Freedman. She was a devoted member of the Holly Hill Church of Christ. Mrs. Freedman also was active in the Cherry Laurel Garden Club and Volusia County Medical Auxiliary having served as president in previous years. Mrs. Freedman was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Freedman earned her R.N. degree from Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg VA and served as a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps during World War II prior to becoming a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed history politics international affairs and had a well developed sense of humor. Surviving are daughters Cynthia Howard Cary NC; Sharon Shuler Columbia SC; Patricia Hollingsworth Davis CA; Vickie Freedman New York NY; one son Robert Freedman Atlanta GA; sisters Sue Conley Harrisonburg VA; Gerry Saufley Richmond VA; brothers Herman ?Buddy? Tutwiler III of Harrisonburg VA; Tom Tutwiler Harrisonburg VA; and eight grandchildren. To honor Mrs. Freedman a seventeen year stroke survivor her family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Stroke Association.
