Obituary

Louise W. Murphy 94 of Holly Hill passed away August 29 2013.

Louise was born in Sparks Georgia to Daniel and Effie (Sharpe) Whitehurst. As a small child her family moved to Daytona Beach. Louise graduated from Daytona High School (now Mainland) in 1937. After high school Louise worked in the offices of the City of Ormond Beach. Her father Daniel Whitehurst was Police Chief of Ormond Beach. She met and married Thomas "Tip" Murphy Jr. in August of 1940. While Tip served his country in the Navy Louise moved with her parents to Cook County Ga. Her father was the Sheriff of Cook County and Louise was his Deputy. When Tip returned from the Navy they moved back to Ormond Beach. Together they owned and operated Ormond Beach Plumbing and Heating until they retired. Tip passed away October of 1985 and Louise settled into a happy life at Bishop's Glen where she lived for 23 years.

Louise enjoyed crafts crocheting and knitting. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. Louise will be remembered as a wonderful caregiver for all of her family. She was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and thought of them as her own children.

Louise was predeceased by her parents one sister and two brothers and her husband Tip. Left to cherish her memory are all of her nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her friends at Bishop's Glen Retirement Center. A family service will be held at a later date in Sparks Georgia through Boone Funeral Home in Adel GA. Her arrangements in Florida are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
