May 23 1916 - June 8 2011. Louise M. Kraska age 95 a resident of Emeritus at Port Orange FL and former resident of Traverse City Michigan died peacefully Wednesday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Milton and her two brothers Harold and Walter Seifferlein. She is survived by her two sons Donald and Thomas daughters-in-law Pamela and Judith; five grandchildren Kendon David Kevin Robert and Nicholas; and six great grandchildren Julian Arja Josephine Ethan Zoe and Benjamin. Louise Minnie Seifferlein was born on May 23 1916 in Detroit Michigan the daughter of Edward and Emma Seifferlein. She was baptized in the Lutheran church and was an active member all of her life. She attended German Lutheran day-school as a child. After high school Louise attended Wayne State University in Detroit where she majored in home economics. Louise and Milton were married September 4 1937 in Detroit. Milton's' career in the auto industry took them from Detroit to Scranton PA during World War II and eventually led them to Dearborn Michigan where they enjoyed many happy years together raising their family and were founding members of Guardian Lutheran Church in Dearborn. Louise and Milton originally came to the Traverse City area after purchasing a cottage on Old Mission Peninsula in the late 60's. They initially retired to winter in St. Croix US Virgin Islands but moved permanently to Old Mission in 1971. Louise enjoyed many happy years at their cottage on Lake Michigan and cherished the frequent visits with her children and grandchildren. Milton and Louise also enjoyed motor-trailering to Florida and all points south and west during the cold Michigan winters. Louise enjoyed her leisure time and hobbies: One of which was sewing - she was quite a seamstress in her day. In her later years she took up painting and became very accomplished especially in oil landscapes. Louise continued painting well into her 90's. Many of her original paintings were on display in her room at Emeritus. Louise led a long full life and was loved by her family church members and numerous friends. A 5:00 p.m. gathering until the 6:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Friday June 17th at the Port Orange Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes. Internment will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens Traverse City later this summer at a date not yet set. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Traverse City Michigan where she was a member for many years.
