Louis J. Sala (97) passed away peacefully at Advent Healthcare Hospice in Palm Coast, FL on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He is survived by his 2 sons: Joseph Louis (Sheila) Sala and Louis J. (Jill) Sala, 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Sala and James O'Donnell, Christopher and Kimberly (Carter) Sala, Danielle Sala, Emily (Sala) and Brian Chitty, and Jennifer (Sala) and Ryan Griffin. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Wyatt Sala, Gabrielle, Olivia, Ethan O'Donnell, Adrianna Giannino, and Dominic Chitty. He was predeceased by his wives, Emily (Romeo) Sala, Ruth (Roberson) Sala, and partner, Anne Burghardt.

Lou served with honor during World War II with the Army of the United States from April 21, 1943, to January 3, 1946. He was Private First Class in Artillery and served under General Omar Bradley in the European Theatre and General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, the German Occupation and Austria Occupation. He earned the WWII Victory Medal, European Theatre Medal, 4 Campaign Stars, and 2 Good Conduct Medals.
Upon his return to New York, he was a grocery store owner, catering manager, and had numerous businesses in New York and Florida as a restauranteur.

A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery 34-0 Greenpoint Ave. Long Island City, NY 11101 at a later date, where he will be interred with his parents, first wife, Emily, and siblings.
