Louis William "Bill" Bray, 84, of Ormond Beach, passed away on May 31, 2016 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
He was born on May 19th, 1932 in Bunnell, Florida to William and Margaret (Stickland) Bray. He graduated from Seabreeze High School, Daytona Beach, in 1950, where he was a star football player and received a full ride scholarship to play at Troy State University. He instead decided to enlist into the U.S. Navy where he served as a member of the Mobile Construction Battalion One, a Seabee battalion. Once home, Bill started LW Bray Construction which he owned and operating for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to his cabin in Tennessee, his farm in Barberville, fishing and refurbishing antique equipment.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn; son, Ross (RoseMary) Bray of Port Orange; daughter, Kelly (Mack) Bray Bodiford of Winter Springs; son, Louis William Bray Junior of Ormond Beach; grandson, Allen (Kerrianne) Arnold Junior, of Lake Mary; granddaughters Alana Arnold of Winter Springs and Brittany Lane of Daytona Beach; great-grandsons Bray Sipley and Nathan Key; nephews, Thad "Dick" Sizemore of Edgewater, Lynn McLarty New Port Richey; Niece, Gale Wesson of Marrianna; family friends, Wanda Jarrett of Greensboro, NC and Henry Skolnick of Daytona Beach.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, June 13th at 1:30 pm in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until the Service begins at 1:30pm.
Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
