Louis Lee Hedgecock ("Louie") age 85 of Port Orange passed away on November 27 2012. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 8 in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Louie was born on December 27 1926 in Greybull Wyoming to the late Gladys (McKeachie) and Loyd Hedgecock. He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II. Louie worked as a journeyman electrician and was a 55 year+ member of the IBEW Local #756. He spent several of those years working at the Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. Louie was a talented amateur cartoonist and drew numerous cartoons for the enjoyment of his co-workers family and friends. He also enjoyed writing and fishing and was involved in volunteering for several political campaigns. He loved to travel and lived in several states over the years (Michigan Iowa Illinois Pennsylvania and Colorado) but called Florida his home. He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church for many years before joining Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange. Louie will be remembered as a loving family man and as someone with an indomitable spirit for life. Despite his many health issues Louie maintained a positive outlook throughout his hardships. He is preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Loyd Hedgecock; siblings Fern (Hedgecock) Knipper John Hedgecock; and his beloved wife Josephine (Giarrusso) Hedgecock. Survivors include his Daughter Patty (Hedgecock) Norton; Stepdaughter Marianne (Ball) Dean; Son-in-law David Norton; Sister Jean (Hedgecock) Day; Grandchildren Kimberly Norton and Kelly Norton; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.
