A Memorial Service for Louis (Lou) Junior Fifer who passed away on August 13. 2009 after a valiant fight to overcome the results of the massive stroke he suffered while on vacation in Chicago in 2006 will be held at 4:00pm Monday August 17 2009 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL. The family will host a memorial gathering for friends from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Monday at the Funeral Home. Born on May 15 1923 in Joliet IL to Esther Tackenburg and J. Louis Fifer Lou lived a rich and glorious life giving his full measure to everything. He played trombone professionally with a variety of stage/dance/big bands Lawrence Welk included where he was in charge of the bubble machine. He served as a Commanding Officer in the US Navy on the USS YMS 313 a minesweeper in the Pacific during WWII. He graduated fro Drake University with a degree in business and finance. He was a Savings and Loan Executive from 1948-1980. He was the founding President/CEO of the Volusia Manufacturers Association. He was a man that made a difference in many peoples' lives mentoring them connecting them to information jobs and people. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois O. Fifer. Lou is survived by his wife Jayne C. Fifer; his daughter Wendy Meder (Dale) of North Carolina; his sons: Louis Fifer III (Joy) of California Randall Fifer (Joan) of South Carolina Darton Fifer (Kea) of Georgia; a step-daughter Jessica Lovatt (Scott) along with twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
