Lou Reid (Taylor) Van Aken, 92, passed away on May 11, 2016 after a long illness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday May 20, 2016 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. A Visitation will be held from 10:00am til the service begins at 11:00am.

A native of McMinneville, TN, she moved to Brooklyn, NY as a child. Her unusual first name was a legacy from her grandma Lula Reid. She married Lloyd Van Aken in 1943 and they moved to Floral Park, NY after the war. A full time Mom until her daughter was a teenager, she devoted herself to her family and friends. They enjoyed traveling to Aruba and Vegas. Four years after Lloyd died, she met Marty De Vit. They became "snowbirds" in Ormond Beach, and moved here full time in 1997.

She introduced Marty to the joys of "antiquing". They were fervent beach walkers, and enjoyed hosting their visiting snowbirds. Lou Reid had a generous spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She was predeceased by Lloyd in 1982 and Marty in 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lu Leveroni and four grandchildren.
