Ormond Beach

Obituary

Lorraine L. Andrews (née Lynn), age 67, of Ormond Beach, FL died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 while in  Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond chapel, 733 W. Granada Boulevard, in Ormond Beach.

Lorraine was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Falls Church, Virginia.  She attended excellent elementary, middle, and high schools in Falls Church.  Lorraine graduated in 1973 from Stetson University with an A.B. degree in economics, attended the Law School of The University of Florida at Gainesville for one year, and then earned her LL.B. law degree, second in her class of 75 students at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, in 1976.

Lorraine had a superior professional career, first as a (civilian) procurement officer and then a logistics manager for 27 years at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA; retiring thus from the United States Defense Department in 2006.  She and her husband, Charley, settled in the Daytona/Ormond Beach area.

Lorraine will be remembered as a (civilian) member of the United States Air Force Association, the Ormond Beach United Methodist Church, and the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.  She was a serious Christian.

In addition to supporting those churches, she regularly gave to CARE, believing strongly in the need to help the poorest of the poor on earth.  Lorraine deeply loved cats, especially her companions over the years 1979-80, and 1992-present.  They were:  Daisy, Willa, Abigail, and now Annie.  She supported the U. S. Humane Society.

Lorraine loved to travel to Europe, especially Paris and Stockholm, visiting there some sixteen times with Charley.

Lorraine is survived by, and will be sadly missed by, her husband, Charles H. Andrews of Ormond Beach.  She will also be lovingly missed by her especially close friend, Jean Hagood (of Macon, GA), Sheila and Murray, Betty and Darrell, Kathy and Bob, and several other good friends.  She will be greatly missed by her son, Bill, daughter-in-law Doreen, and her grandchildren: Christopher, David, and Kim; and by Sue and Carol – as well as others.

In lieu of flowers, please consider The Methodist Church, The Presbyterian Church, The United States Humane Society, and CARE.  Arrangements entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family via this online guestbook.
