Lloyd "Wayne" Montgomery ("Preacher"), 83, of Port Orange, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Florida Hospital Hospice Care.
Wayne was born in Hammond, Indiana and enjoyed many years of ministry for Jesus Christ, along with Loretta, his wife of 60 years. Wayne graduated from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, IL) and attended Kent State University (Ashtabula, OH). He is also a veteran of the US Army. Together Wayne and Loretta served in Child Evangelism Fellowship (Vigo County, IN) followed by a pastorate at Forest Park Chapel (Terre Haute, IN) and a long-time pastorate at Lenox Federated Church (Jefferson, OH).
After retiring from ministry they relocated to Tullahoma, TN, and later to Port Orange, FL. Wayne was a man after God's own heart; he loved God and loved studying and teaching the Bible. He committed his life to Christ when he was 19 years old, after understanding the truth of John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life."
The legacy of this committed husband and loving father/grandfather brings great joy to his family: wife, Loretta; daughters, Lynne Moore, Beth (Eugene) Jesel, Karen (Warren) Klemm, and eight grandchildren who "G'pa" dearly loved and prayed for: Christy, Rebecca, Karen, Eugene, Aaron, Preston, Tyler, and Nathan. Wayne was the younger brother to Floyd Montgomery (Chesterton, IN) as well as to sisters Marion Hood and Madelon Montgomery - already in heaven.
Wayne will be missed, yet we are fully confident that each of us will one day be reunited with him and spend eternity rejoicing and worshiping the awesome God that he served so faithfully. No service is planned.
