Lloyd F. Pierce, 96 of Daytona Beach died peacefully in his sleep on June 29, 2015. Funeral service for Lloyd will at 12 noon Monday, July 6 at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Visitation will begin 11 am and entombment following the service will be at Daytona Memorial Park. Lloyd was born in Mountain City, Tenn. on Dec 11, 1918. A graduate of Carson Newman College, he received his Ph.D. in Economics from University of Wisconsin in 1953. In 1941 he was married to Joyce Epley until he lost her to Alzheimer's disease. He served as Dean for the School of Business Administration at East Tenn. State University. He became Director of Education at for National Association of Mutual Savings Banks in 1959 where he directed advanced management programs for bankers at several major Ivy League schools in New England. In 1973 he joined People's United Bank of Connecticut and later became president in 1980. He married Sally Mikawa in 1994 with which he enjoyed many years of traveling, good food, concert going, and golf. After retirement Lloyd continued to serve as chairman of the Wright Managed Mutual Funds until well into his 80's. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sally Pierce, his sons; Stephen Pierce (Jacqueline), Don Pierce, Phil Pierce (Sharon), step-daughter Kazi Alward (Lee), 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
