Lloyd R. Abee, 88 of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at AdventHealth Daytona. He was born in Winston Salem, NC to Daniel & Stella Pearle Abee. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He then returned to the Rochester, NY area where he worked for Marine Midland Bank and served his community of Spencerport as a member of the police force. Later moving south, he was the proud owner/operator of several motels in Myrtle Beach, SC and Asheville, NC. In retirement, Lloyd has been a resident of Ormond Beach since 2000. He was a member of the American Legion, a sports enthusiast (especially when it came to his Atlanta Braves). He enjoyed traveling and was an avid bicyclist up through the age of 87. Lloyd is survived by his three daughters: Patricia Sauers and her husband William of Rochester, NY, Linda Abee, also of Rochester, Mary Beth Morrow and her husband Robert of Winston Salem, NC, and son, John Abee and his wife Odi of Concord, NC; by four grandchildren: Kristi, Brian, Bobby, Peter…(with one on the way!). Lloyd also had five great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Breanna, Roxanna, Samantha and Logan. He is also survived by his close friends, June and Jim Allen, Debbie Chapin, Beth and Jim Brown and Benny Sands. He cherished his life-long friends Joseph Covington, Pete and Elsie Mitchell, Gregory Bayne and many neighbors including "bike riding" friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean of 58 years and his six siblings. A Service of Remembrance with Military Honors will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11am at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W.
