Linda M. Gately of South Daytona passed away on Thursday January 7 2010. A service will be held in her honor on Wednesday January 13 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Cardwell Funeral Home 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave. Port Orange followed by interment at Daytona memorial Park.
Linda was born on July 16 1954 to William and Helen Owen of Foxboro Massachusetts. She moved to Florida in 1987 and worked for Kinsey Vincent Pyle P. L. for 22 years as a word processor. She was married to James Gately in 1972. She is survived by her four children Joseph Gately Patricia Gately Kenneth Gately and Michelle Gately. Also survived by 9 grandchildren James Brandon Trent Hailey Mark Ray Jaedin Mathew Joshua and Maria and her brother William Owen and sisters Marie Gaughran and Kathleen Bellisle. Preceded in death by her father William Owen and her ex-husband James Gately.
Linda loved her family and worked hard to provide for them. Family vacations were really important to her. They shared many camping and ocean cruise adventures over the years. Her mother joined them on all of the cruises. She also enjoyed online bowling and was at the top of her league. Her interest and talent for genealogy led her to the discovery of her great grandfather's unmarked grave at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord Massachusetts. To anyone who knew her she devoted her entire life to her family. She will be very missed.
