Linda Rae (Lynne)Ferency died Sunday January 8th 2012 after a courageous battle with a rare cancer. She was born on January 23rd 1940 in Terre Haute Indiana to Alice and Walter Hadley. She grew up in Terre Haute attending Rae and Collett Elementary Schools McLean Junior High School and Garfield High School. Having won a scholarship Lynne graduated from Indiana State University with a major in English and a minor in Drama/Speech. She pursued graduate study amassing 45 hours beyond her BA. Lynne taught high school English for 10 years and then changed careers and sold residential real estate specializing in Antique and Vintage properties. During her life in real estate Lynne served on the Board of Realtors. She pursued extra training and earned the Certificate of Residential Specialist and Graduate Realtor Association rating. In 1989 she moved from Connecticut to Daytona Beach. She became the editor of a senior publication and enjoyed meeting and interviewing the exceptional people over 50 in the area. Her favorite activities were gardening (particularly herb gardening) cooking movies plays concerts traveling tennis golf and visiting with friends and family. Her favorite overseas city was Paris and her favorite American City was Charleston where her son was born. Organization to which she belonged were Chi Omega Pan-Hellenic (former president) various garden clubs (president of several) the guild of the Museum of Florida Art and the Democratic Party. Friends were especially cherished by Lynne; many of them were life-long friends. Through her life Lynne had several dogs; the current one Bandit was a special joy. She is survived by her daughter Garrie Jo Ferency her son Michael Scott Ferency Scott's two girls Ellie Rae and Magan Elise (Maggie) and her beloved Edward Olson her fianc. There will be a 10:00 AM gathering followed by a 11:00 AM memorial in her honor Friday January 20 the Deland Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home followed by a luncheon at the Grant Bly House.
