IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Libera
Gullo
December 5, 1933 – January 2, 2024
Libera Cathyrni Gullo, affectionately known as Lee, gracefully departed this world on January 2, 2024, in Daytona Beach, Florida, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family. Born on December 5, 1933, in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of Daniel Zerrillo, a WWII Purple Heart recipient (1896–1962), and Angelina Morimanno (1910–1991).
On February 14, 1953, Lee entered into a lifelong commitment with the love of her life, Joesph Gullo, in a heartfelt ceremony in Brooklyn, New York City. Their extraordinary love story spanned an incredible 70 years, weaving a tapestry of shared joys and sorrows that will endure through generations.
Lee and Joe embarked on a beautiful journey together, beginning in California during Joe's service in the marines. They later settled on Long Island, NY, where they lovingly raised their two sons, Michael and Mark. Lee was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a cherished grandmother of four and great-grandmother of three, leaving behind a legacy of love and family.
In 1966, Joe and Lee moved the family to upstate NY, settling in Saratoga County, where they created a home for 48 years. A woman of profound faith, Lee served as a Eucharistic Minister at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, finding solace and fulfillment in her spiritual journey. Her dedication to faith manifested in the compassion and kindness she extended to everyone around her, also serving as the coordinator for the church altar linen service.
Lee and Joe reveled in a lifetime of adventures, undertaking numerous trips and cruises with close friends. One of the highlights of Lee's life was a pilgrimage to Italy, where she had the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II. The memories created during these travels became cherished moments etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Lee enjoyed listening and mostly dancing with Joe to their favorite bands and singers. She was an avid Mahjong player for many years gathering with her girlfriends for competitive games.
Lee's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will endure in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that will span eternity.
In addition to her loving husband, Lee is survived by her two sons, Michael (Dianne) of Port Orange, FL, and Mark (Janice) of Wilmington, DE; four grandchildren, Billy (Olivia), Andy (Jillian), Thomas (Danielle), and Leanne (Mikey); and three great-grandchildren, Stella, Damian, and Ellie.
A Prayer service will be held Wednesday, January 10th at Lohman's Funeral Home, Port Orange, Florida. Burial will be private.
A Mass of Christian Burial service to celebrate Lee's life will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, where she faithfully served, allowing friends and family to come together to remember, honor, and cherish the beautiful life of Libera Cathyrni Gullo. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or St. Jude.
