Obituary

A celebration of life for Leota E. Sowers age 72 of Deland Florida who passed away suddenly on Feb. 17 2009 will be held at 2:00pm Sat. Feb. 21 2009 at Lohman Funeral Home of Ormond at 733 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach Florida 32174. The family will be receiving friends and family from 12:00- 2:00 pm at the funeral home with the celebration service to follow. Leota was born in Lancaster Ohio on March 11 1936 where she was employed by Anchor Hocking for 15 years. After receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost in 1953 later she relocated to Daytona Beach Florida where she was actively involved in the Pentecostal church of Holly Hill. Leota spent many years being the head of Ladies Auxiliary song leader and very active Sunday school teacher. Later she moved to Bunnell Florida where she worked 18 years as a CNA at Meadowbrook Manor. After the death of her husband David Sowers she relocated to Deland Florida. She attended The Pentecostals of Palm Coast church where she was a building fund leader and an inspiration to everyone she met. Leota never met a stranger. Her mission on this earth was to serve God with her whole heart and Leota did just that. When her doctors told her to slow down due to her rapidly failing health instead of doing that she chose to run the race to fulfill Gods plan for her life at full speed until the very end. She lived her life according to Acts 2:38. She left behind a great legacy her love for God family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Pearl & Eva Elick Brother Butch Elick and her husband of 45 years David N Sowers. She is survived by her sister Jenny Barnes of Ohio. Three children; David E. Sowers of Ormond Beach Sandra K. Anglin of Deland and Pamela E. Sowers of Ormond Beach. She had eight grandchildren; Scott Lehman of Michigan Sheri Nailor of Palm Coast Tim Ailes of Palm Coast Diana Salin of Michigan Teresa Culver of Holly Hill Mark Sowers of Bunnell Brandy Rewekant of Michigan and Amy Bloomfield of Ormond Beach. Leota also leaves behind 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her desire in her passing was in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to The Pentecostals of Palm Coast Building Fund at 52 Forest Hill Dr. Palm Coast Florida 32137.
