Obituary

Leonildo "Leo" Luigi Cecchetto, 83, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Clare Bridge Assisted Living, Ormond Beach.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16th from 5~7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Mass of Resurrection will then be celebrated on Friday, April 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Oceanshore Blvd. Ormond Beach with Father James Queen presiding.

Leo was born July 22, 1931 in San Marco Di Resana, Italy to Carlo and Amelia (Cagnin) Cecchetto. Leo was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and the definition of a self-made man. He left post-war Italy with nothing, for a chance at a better life and he found the start of it in Canada, where he would meet his future wife. Together, they eventually came to the United States where he would go on to have a successful career as a contractor specializing in tile, marble, granite and terrazzo in both California and Hawaii.

He was also parishioner at St. Brendan Catholic Church, a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a huge soccer fan.

Leonildo leaves his loving wife of 57 years Huguette (Moreau) Cecchetto, Ormond Beach, he was the proud father of four children; Marisa (Hal) Johnson, Honolulu, HI, Robb (Anne) Cecchetto, Quincy, MA, Lisa (Joe, MD) Mirante, Ormond Beach, and Carlo (Jenny) Cecchetto San Diego, CA, his brother, Attilio Cecchetto, Palm Springs, CA, three sisters, Maria Michielin, Rena Bano, and Angelina Bregagnolo, all of Italy. He was also the loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Mario.

Leonildo will be missed for his love and dedication to his family and friends and his eagerness to assist anyone in need. He was a passionate, hard-working man who had a flair for getting the job done and a zest for leading the men who worked for and with him.
