A Funeral Service for Leonard M. Silverstein 85 of Ormond Beach who passed away at his home on Monday December 4 2006 surrounded by his loving family will be held 4:30pm Thursday December 7 2006 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with a Masonic Service held by the Daytona Beach Lodge #270 F.&A.M following at 6:30pm. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8pm Thursday at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. He was born on June 4 1921 in Akron OH and lived there until retiring to Florida in 1999. Leonard was a veteran of the 305th Armed Services Forces in WWII. He was a member of Adoniram-Joppa Lodge 517 Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Canton Tadmor Shrine and the Yusef Khan Grotto. Leonard was an active member of the Tadmor Drivers Club and one of his greatest joys was transporting handicapped children to the Shriners Hospital in Erie PA and Cincinnati OH for treatment. After retiring to Florida Leonard became a member of Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc who trains Seeing Eye dogs. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jill. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Rhoda; sons Alan wife Melana) Michael (wife Laura); grandchildren: Jason Silverstein Ann (husband Michael) Motil Andrea Silverstein and great-grandchildren Matthew & Abigail Motil. He was a special and caring man who loved life and will be sadly missed by all.
