Funeral service for Leonard "L. D." Abbott 80 who passed away at his home on May 08 2007 with his family at his side while under hospice care will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday May 11 2007 at the Port Orange Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes with Rev. Mark Spivey officiating. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday May 10 2007 at the funeral home.

L.D. was born on August 31 1926 to the late John and Julia in Holiday TN and grew up in Hampton, VA. He honorably served his country during WWII as a member of the Merchant Marines and later went on to work for General Motors for 35 years until retiring. He was a devote Baptist who thoroughly enjoyed motorcycles photography and fishing and loved drinking Pepsi. Of all his hobbies in life his greatest passion was for his family who will miss him dearly.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Joan; loving daughters Christine Wales of Westmont IL and Diane Abbott of Deltona FL; sister Ellen Ward of Hampton VA; brother William Spence Jr. of Tallahassee FL; grandson Andrew Wales of DeKalb IL and granddaughter Fawn Abbott also of Deltona FL.
