Obituary

Leo Anthony Marella born in Philadelphia Pa. in 1916 died February 20 2011 at Florida Hospital Hospice Center in Ormond Beach; Fl. Leo served in the Army Air Corps in World War II as a radio operator in North Africa and in China-Burma-India. He also served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict on General Ernest K. Warburton's flight crew. Leo was a radar/sonar technician at the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville PA. for nearly twenty-five years. Upon retiring in 1974 Leo and his wife Elvah moved to Florida. Leo an avid reader also enjoyed woodworking carving playing the guitar and was an amateur radio operator (W3IMS). He is preceded in death by his wife Elvah of 63 years daughter Elvah Lee Mansky of Atlanta Ga.; and sister Mary Bennett of Oviedo FL. He is survived by his daughter Barbara (Jack) Monserrat of Horsham Pa. and son Richard (Monique) Marella of Ormond Beach Fl and his nephew Albert (Paula) Jenkins. South Daytona Beach FL. He was the grandfather of six grandchildren Christopher Mansky Alicia Mansky Karen Lee Lindsay Stuart Lori Madden and Bryan Marella by nine great-grandchildren and his loving pet "Angel". A Celebration of Life will be held at the family's home; 25 Julie Drive Ormond Beach between 3-6 pm on Sunday March 6th. At the family's request his ashes along with his wife's ashes will be inurned with Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery in June. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Florida Hospital Hospice Care-Oceanside 254 S. Atlantic Ave. Ormond Beach Fl 32176.
