A Memorial Service for Lee R. Mathis 77 of South Daytona will be held 11 am Saturday April 30 at All Saints Lutheran Church 751 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange. Mr. Mathis died April 18 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. Mr. Mathis was born in Chattanooga TN where he was a career firefighter with the Chattanooga Fire Department. He retired in 1976 as a captain and came to this area in 1978. He graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga Class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1948 to 1953. Mr. Mathis attended the University of Chattanooga. He was a member of Hill City Masonic Lodge in Chattanooga the Golden Glove Boxing Team the International Association of Firefighters and All Saints Lutheran Church. Mr. Mathis was in real estate called L & S Agency owned Mathis Auto Repair and operated a restaurant all in TN. He enjoyed camping fishing and boating. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Port Orange; a son William Lee Mathis 6 grandchildren Rev. Christian Mathis Blaine Patrick Autumn Gail and Amber Mathis and a grandson Anthony all of Chattanooga. Following the service everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall for light refreshments and fellowship. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange 32129 or All Saints Lutheran Church.
