Obituary

Lee Cunningham Culler 71 of Ormond Beach FL passed away peaceful on April 9 2012 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center 399 North US 1 Ormond Beach with Pastor Robbie O'Brien officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Lee was born to Dorothy Cunningham Culler and Woodward Durham Culler on September 30 1940 in Orangeburg SC In 1962 Lee obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Wofford College where he was a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity brother; he also enlisted in the Army Reserve and served until 1968. In 1963 he relocated to Volusia County and shortly thereafter in 1964 he married the love of his life Patricia (Ryals). In 1969 Lee purchased Cunningham Oil Company from his family. He was President and Owner of Cunningham Service & Oil Company Inc Cunningham LP Gas Company and Lee Cunningham Culler Properties Inc. He was the General Partner with H & L Partnership a South Carolina farm land company as well as a member of LSM LLC. In 2009 Lee received the Holly Hill Corporate Citizen of the Year award. Over the years Lee became very involved in his community he was a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club and past president of the Daytona Beach Kiwanis Club; he was the only president to serve twice 1976 and 1985. He was the past president of the Oceanside Golf and Country Club 1991 past president of the Oil Fuel Institute of Florida 1977 Halifax L.P. Gas Association 1987 and past president of the University Club 1976. He served on the Board of Directors with Florida Petroleum Marketers 1974-1977 the American Red Cross 1974-1980 the United Way 1974-1977 the Civic League 1978-1979 Sunset Harbor and Barnett Bank 1992-1998. He also served on the Advisory Board of Directors with First Florida Bank 1986-1992 and Founding Director of Coquina Bank 1998-2004. Lee was a Captain with the Quarterback Club 1992 and served as an Olympic Torch Bearer in 1996. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 + years Patricia Culler Ormond Beach his daughter Stacy Culler Cunningham of Ormond Beach granddaughter Natalee and grandson Ryals of Ormond Beach brother Hayne (Sally) Culler of Orangeburg South Carolina and sister Minna Beth (Tom) Wilkinson of Chapin South Carolina. He was predeceased by his brother Woody Culler. Lee always had a smile and a positive attitude. Lee loved his family friends and Cunningham Oil Employees. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 840692 Dallas TX 75264-0692.
