Lawrence " Larry " Porter Sr. passed away peacefully , surrounded by his family on April 26 , 20 23 . He was born on August 8, 194 1 in Tallahassee , FL to Russell and Blonza Porter . He g r ew up in a family of commercial fisherman in Spring Creek , FL . A longside his brothers Jonas, Freddie, Waviel , Eddie Jack, Cort and Burt , a foundation of " hard work, family and love " was created that he shared with others h is entire life.

Lawrence met Juanita in 1969 and they celebrated 5 1 years of marriage. He was a caring and much - loved Dad of two daughters, Anita and Shasta and son, Larry Jr . H is 'f ourth child' was h is niece Denise . Many of his children 's friends considered them their " Pops " too !

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Landing Signal Officer guiding naval aircraft. Af ter the Navy he began a career in the Printing and Lithographic industry that spanned over 40 years . He retired as Vice President and General Manager .

H e enjoy ed fish ing with his friends & family and cooking th e day's catch . H is favorite thing to do though was spending time with h is grandchildren, Zack, Zoey, Evan, Landon and Caleb. He loved making people laug h , his animated, energetic stories w ould have you in hysterics… he loved making people happy. A selfless person that always took care of everyone else first. H e influence d so many in a positive way and will be truly missed !

Lawrence is survived by his daughter Anit a and her husband Tony; son Larry and his wife Samantha; daughter Shasta and her husband Ryan; brother Jonas an d his wife Bernice ; grandchildren , nieces, nephews and many close friends that h e cared for greatly.

Services will be held on Fri day May 5 th at Lohman's Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave nue , Port Orange , FL. Visitation begins at 1 1 :00 A M with the Memorial Services following at 1 2:00P M. Condolences for the family may be shared at L ohmanfuneralhomes.com .
