It is with extreme sadness that the family of Lawrence D. Cody, 86,
announces that he passed away after a brief illness on October 18, 2023, in
Debary. FL.

Larry was born in Madison, Maine, on March 5, 1937. He grew up in
Madison and entered the Air Force after graduating high school, the first in
his family to do so. After his military discharge he moved to Portsmouth,
NH, where he worked as a photographer (Scientific Mtech) for the
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement, when be moved back to
Skowhegan, Maine, and then later to Debary, FL.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Louise (Mercier) Cody, originally
from Quebec, Canada, and his father Rodney J. Cody, originally from Nova
Scotia, and all of his older brothers and sisters (listed in birth order):
Hugh Cody, of Madison, Mary Margaret Rachel (Cody) Lavoie, of Madison,
Annabel "Jo" Cody, of Madison, Pearl (Cody) Kinney, of Farmington, ME,
Alvina "Bunny" (Cody) Hoskins, of Skowhegan, Bernard Cody of
Skowhegan, Pauline (Cody) Forbus, Arline (Cody) Littlejohn, Gloria Cody
and Theresa Cody, all of Madison.

He was also predeceased by his first wife, Loretta Lynn (Ellis) Cody; second
wife, Barbara Cody, and his third wife, Charlotte (Craparotta) Cody.
Larry is survived by his sister, Donna Tripp, of Anson, ME, his son, Sherman
D. Cody and his wife, Charlotte, of Rochester, NH, and his daughter, Judith
(Cody) Cresta and her husband, Anthony, of York, ME.; his beloved stepdaughter, Debra
Durrance Baker of Orange City, FL; his stepsons, Troy and Chris Durrance, who all called him
Pop; his grandchildren, Jennifer Cresta Baty and Anthony Cresta, Jr.; as well as several nieces,
nephews and great-grandchildren, including many step-nieces and step-nephews, who all loved
him dearly, as well as his puppies, Takoda and Loki.

He was a devout member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Debary, FL. Larry also loved
bowling and bingo. He was known by his family as the Yahtzee King, because he seldom lost
playing Yahtzee. He was a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox and
even went with his son to Fenway Park for a game when he was visiting his son in New
Hampshire. One of his favorite movies was Sleepless in Seattle, and he loved watching Westerns
on TV. He was especially a fan of Walker, Texas Ranger; Wagon Train; and Blue Bloods.

A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Debary, FL on November 4th at 12pm. Inurnment to follow at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME at a later date.
