Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt LaWana Gerrard Whitaker, 63, passed away Thursday August 28, 2014 in her home. LaWana's husband, Robert (Oak) was at her side. She is survived by her husband, her son Michael of Sylvania, Georgia; sisters, Eleen Laubenheim (Robert) of Ormond Beach, FL, Debra Marino (Angelo) of Ormond Beach, FL, Barbara Webster (Boyd) of St. George, Utah, and brother, Elden Gerrard (Trudy) of West Valley, Utah; six nieces, and three nephews as well as many extended family members. LaWana was active in her church, was a volunteer at the Stuart Meyer Hospice House and was deeply committed to serving others. Her love and knowledge of animals was surpassed only by her love of family and friends. She is defined by her loving and caring attitude. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Stuart Meyer Hospice House, Florida Hospital Flagler. To celebrate her life, a service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 402 Palmetto Street, Bunnell, Florida, 1pm Wednesday, September 3. A viewing will precede it beginning at 11:30 am. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
