LaVerne J Martincic 75 of Ormond Beach entered into eternal life Sunday December 7 2008 after a long illness. Her family will receive friends in a Celebration of Her Life at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday December 10 2008 followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. LaVerne was born June 17 1933 to George and Ruth Wilhelm in Cleveland Ohio. She married Joseph Martincic in August 1956 and moved to Euclid Ohio in 1961. In 1971 LaVerne and her husband Joe created the Mini Car Mod Shop in Cleveland a business in which they built and sold fiberglass kit cars dune buggies and custom accessories. LaVerne and Joe moved their family to Ormond Beach in 1975 and relocated their expanding business to Holly Hill FL where it was renamed Daytona Automotive Fiberglass. As President she was responsible for marketing and all financial staffing and accounting duties. After selling their business in 1987 LaVerne received her Florida Realtor's license and worked for Century 21 A.H. Stone and Associates until her passing. LaVerne was elected President of the Holly Hill Chamber of Commerce in 1984 and received a Citizenship Award from the Chamber in 1985. She was the first woman to earn an Achievement Award as "Businessman of the Year" from the Rotary Club of Holly Hill in 1980. LaVerne won many awards from Century 21 over the years including Diamond and Ruby Sales Awards Golden Eagle Award Quality Service Award and was top producer for the office on multiple occasions. LaVerne also served as American Heart Association's Heart Walk Team Leader for Center 21 A.H. Stone for ten consecutive years. She was a member of the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors for over 20 years and a member of the Orchid Society. LaVerne was a hard and diligent worker but cherished her family above all. Her caring manner touched the hearts of all who knew her. She loved growing orchids crocheting collecting antique glassware making flower arrangements and was an avid auto racing fan. LaVerne was predeceased by her husband Joe sisters Arlene and Lois and her son Michael. LaVerne is survived by daughter Laura Ward and husband Greg; son Joseph Martincic and wife Joann; granddaughter Mallorie Allen; grandson Zack Martincic; and many extended family members including Ed and Helen Kuhel Tom and Mitzi Sejnowski Marty and Jane Zimmerman and her beloved dog Sugar.
