Laverna M. Gettys age 87 passed away October 23 2010 at the Hospice Care Center Edgewater Fla. At her time of death she was lovingly surrounded by her daughter Barbara Berg-Fennessey and grand-daughter Lisa Jean Friedenreich both of Ponce Inlet Fl. Mrs. Gettys was born in Hingham Mass on May 11 1923 and moved to this area in 1981 residing in South Daytona. For the past three years she resided in Ponce Inlet and Cape Cod Mass near her daughter and grand-daughter who were her primary caregivers. Mrs. Gettys was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter S. Gettys. They were very devoted to one another and had a loving 48 year marriage. For the past seven years she deeply missed her ""Poopsie"" as she was his ""Sweetie Pie"". She also leaves behind her grandson Peter Benjamin Friedenreich of Haleiwa Ha.; sister-in-law Edith Arsenault of Port Orange; and various nieces and nephews. A private burial service well be at the National Cemetery in Bushnell Fla where she will be interred beside her dear husband Walter.
