Thompson Laurette H. Funeral Mass for Laurette Catherine Hayes Thompson 80 North Halifax Drive Ormond Beach who died Saturday at Baptist Medical Center Beaches Jacksonville FL will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday June 29th at St. Brendan Roman Catholic Church 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd Ormond Beach Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery Ormond Beach. Mrs. Thompson was born in Chicago IL October 13 1924 a daughter of Luke Joseph Hayes and Loretta O?Brien Hayes. She was a graduate of Aquinas High School in Chicago. She was married in 1947 to Donald F. Thompson who predeceased her in 2004. She moved to Ormond Beach in 1965 from Melbourne FL. She enjoyed traveling playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was an Auxiliary member at Ormond Beach Memorial Hospital for over thirty years during which she donated almost 9 000 volunteer hours. Prior to that she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross beginning in 1949 during her husband?s military assignment in Yokohama Japan and continuing through their years in the Melbourne area. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her son Joseph A Carol of Ponte Vedra Beach FL daughter Connie Ball Jim of Mt. Pleasant SC sister Patricia Brennan of Watseka IL and five grandchildren Chelsea Lagos of New York City NY Amy and John Thompson both of Jacksonville FL and Brendan and Colleen Ball both of Mt. Pleasant SC. She was predeceased by her son Robert in 1999.
