LAURA BELL "JAKE" THOMAS
God came in her room and whispered in her ear and said "Come home and take a rest" while her family was by her bedside ; Laura Bell Thomas went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 30th . Laura Bell "Jake" Thomas joined the church at an early age and was a member of New St. James in Daytona Beach, FL for 58 years. Her faith was strong and her heart pure.
Laura Bell was born to the late Laurel and Pearlemae Johnson Henderson in Blounts Town, FL on Novemeber 14, 1926. Laura Bell is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Isaiah Thomas Sr., 2 daughters, Mildred Thomas Jones, Gloria Jean Glenn, 3 Grandchildren Andrew Curtis Perry Jr., Latoya E. Perry, Laura Thomas, 2 Sisters Inez Jackson, Bessie Lovelace, 1 Brother Laurel Henderson Jr., and 2 Sons in law, Andrew Curtis Perry and Charles Glenn.
Laura Bell and her husband Isaiah came to Daytona Beach in 1945 with 2 small daughters. They Lived with the Lloyd Family until 1946. Once Stationary in Daytona Beach, Laura Bell and Isaiah Moved into Pine Haven Projects and became one of many family's that had started their family's roots and built their family legacies, which also included her Mother and Father and her 7 siblings.
She was a domestic worker for many people. She was a babysitter for many of the neighborhood children. She never let anyone go hungry. You could always come to her house and get good Kool-Aid and a meal. We cannot forget her delicious bread pudding and banana pudding as well. She always had a kiss and encouraging words for those who came to visit.
Laura Bell believed in looking nice and neat, and loved wearing her beautiful hair bows and pretty dresses. She instilled confidence in all her children and grandchildren and always had a nice compliment to make those she encountered feel their best.
She has a legacy that spans 5 generations and includes 20 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great- great Grandchildren, as well as 2 Extended Children, May Francis and William Long. She is survived by her 4 Daughters Earnestine Thomas Perry (Daytona Beach), Patricia Ann Senior (Edward) Lakeland, Mae Reatha Gloster (Deland), Shelia Thomas (Daytona Beach), and 1 Son Isaiah Thomas Jr. (Daytona Beach), 1 Brother Wallace Henderson (Denise) Daytona Beach, 3 Sisters Jessie Mae Flyer (Indiana), Willie Lee McMillan (Daytona Beach), and Lena Stanley (Daytona Beach) and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many friends as well, especially her Graham Street neighbors. A Grave side service for Laura Bell will be held Friday, September 4th at 2:30 in the afternoon at Daytona Memorial Park, in Daytona Beach.
