Laura "Mae" Dalton Chafins, 86 of Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully in her home, on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Mae is preceded in death by parents Marion and Nellie Dalton, Stepmother Ruby Sammons, Sister Gladys Dalton Hall and Marinda Stacey, Longtime friend Daphne Collinsworth, Granddaughter Amanda Rucker, and Nephew Jay Hall. She is survived by Husband Donald Lee Chafins; Children Diana (Steve) Cook and Rickey Chafins and Joy; Siblings Virgie Lombardo, Allen (Jane) Dalton, William George Dalton, Sharon Spence, Terry (Peggy) Dalton, Marion (Stephanie) Dalton Jr., and Marsha (John) Evans; Brothers in Law William B. Hall and Abe Stacey; Grandchildren Christie (Shawn) Halley, Ty (Allison) Cook, Michelle (David) Martinez, Shane (Leslie) Church, Bret Cook and Sarah, Regina (Chad) Dalton, and Kevin Chafins and Corey; Great-Grandchildren Justin Willis, Sydney Cook, Lauren Rucker, Harrison Cook, Austin Halley, Kadence Dalton, Ava Church, Katelyn Halley, McKenzie Dalton, Brandon Church, Colton Dalton, Connor, and Brayden; Great-Great-Grandchildren Paisley and Emaleigh, as well as many nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Mae was born in Calf Creek, Kentucky on October 20, 1931. In 1950, Mae, was married to Donald, the love of her life. While young and on her first legs, Mae managed Ford's Drive In in Naugatuck, West Virginia. After Don's retirement from coal mining in the mid '70s, the couple moved to Ormond Beach, Florida to live out the rest of their lives. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, shopping, and spending time with her enormous group of friends and family, and husband of 68 years. Mae was also an active member in The Tomoka Christian Church, The Order of The Eastern Star religious group, and her water aerobics group, The Bouncing Betties.  Visiting hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13 and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, followed by a graveside service.
