Larry Richard Witmer Sr. age 69 of DeLeon Springs passed away on Friday July 20 2012. A memorial service in his honor will be held 1:00 pm on Sat. 8/4/12 at The American Legion Post 6 1087 Biscayne Boulevard Deland. Larry was born in Dover Pennsylvania to Oscar and Sara Witmer. He dedicated his life's work as an over the road truck driver for several companies such as Trans Con Freight Lines and Glen Di. He was a clean compassionate man who enjoyed fishing with his friends NASCAR dog and horse races cooking for the American Legion and spending time with his family. He was a former member of the VFW and Deland Eagles & Teamsters Union in PA and a present SAL member of the American Legion Post 6. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 32 years Shirley Knouse Witmer 4 sons; Kenneth (Denise) Yeger Arden (Myrtle) Yerger Timothy Yerger and Larry Jr. (Patti) Witmer 3 daughters; Lynne (Randy) Kratzer Shari (Rusty) Steinmertz and Peggy (Robert) Perkins 12 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren his special pooch; Heidi and a large loving extension of family and friends.
