Larry Solana, 64, passed away peacefully in his Port Orange home on July 2, 2017.

Larry was born on October 7, 1952 in Daytona Beach to David Solana and Mary Brown. He graduated from Mainland High School in 1970 and immediately pursued a career in the military.

After faithfully serving his country for 20 years as a helicopter pilot and flight instructor, Larry retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer Four in 1991. Larry served in Operation Desert Storm and was awarded The Air Medal for his distinguished and heroic service.

Larry loved his county, fishing, racing, entertaining family and friends and will be remembered as the life of any party. Larry loved life and lived it to its fullest every day.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Brandy Hogue and her husband, Danny; his dad David Solana and step-mother, Marion; his mother Mary Prince and step-father, J.R.; brothers, Robert (Bobby), Ralph (Buddy), David (Happy); twin sisters, Teena and Lori Solana; grandchildren Payton, Kialey, and Blaine Hogue, and many other loving family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, July 13, 2017, with a gathering of family and friends from 2:30 PM, until the time of the service, at Lohman's Funeral Home in Port Orange. In lieu of flowers, and if desired, friends can make memorial contributions in Larry's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
