Larry W. Gott, 74, passed away on July 4, 2014 at Halifax Medical Center. Larry was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on January 2, 1940 to William Melvin and Mildred Heard Gott. Larry attended (KMI) Kentucky Military Institute which wintered in Venice, Florida. He was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Hopkinsville, Kentucky in 1958 where he played football.
Larry graduated from Western Kentucky University (WKU), Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1962 with majors in Economics and Mathematics. He was also a team football player for Western. After graduation Larry served in the U.S. Army Reserves as an MP in 1963. Larry worked many years in the clothing industry and as general manager of a manufacturing company in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
In 1995 Larry and Sharon moved back to Daytona Beach, Florida where Larry was able to enjoy and play his passion, Tennis. Larry was a member of USTA, he was a USTA official and President of Fun Coast Professional Tennis Officials Association for several years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Winfree Gott, his two sons Douglas W. Gott (Carrie), Bowling Green, Kentucky, Amos E. Gott, Nashville, Tennessee and his brother, Hugh W. Gott (Margie) of Clearwater. Larry has two step-children, Michael L. Sainburg, Baronette, Wisconsin and Susie Sainburg Dolan (Tim), Longwood, Florida. Two grandchildren Campbell and Katherine Gott, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Four step-grandchildren, Cassandra Miller (A.J.), Daytona Beach, Florida, Lauren Sainburg, Barronette, Wisconsin, Brooke and Noah Sainburg, Phoenix, Arizona, and three great-grandchildren, Mia, Ollie and Abella.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday July 12, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona located at 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114, with a memorial service celebrating Larry's life to follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M.
