Larry Gene Compton - Larry passed away peacefully at home with his beloved companion Pumpkin by his side. Larry was born in Kentucky on November 23rd 1943. He graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1960 after moving to Florida in the 1950s. Upon graduating from Seabreeze, Larry went on to become a surgical technician at Halifax Hospital after graduating from what is now known as Daytona State College. Larry's life was changed forever, after being involved in a motor vehicle accident which left him permanently disabled. He worked at W.O.R.C. for over 30 years. He loved animals and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys in life, in which he became known as Uncle Gene, was to help raise his nephew Julian Carlos Lopez, III. (J.C.). He is predeceased by his devoted mother Thelma Craig, father Johnny Compton, and his brother Barry Adams. He is survived by his sister Sheila Lopez, brother Michael Craig, nephew Julian, nieces Lindsay & Morgan, Uncle Gary Childress and several loving cousins. Larry was able to live peacefully after his mother Thelma's passing in 2012 with the help of his neighbor Earlene and his beloved cat Pumpkin's companionship until his passing. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be deeply missed by all.

A Celebration Of Life for Larry Gene Compton, 74, of Holly Hill, FL will be held on Thursday April 19, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach Fl at 1:30pm With Chaplain Mark Spivey as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Burial will be at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach.
