Laimons ""Lanny"" Akmentins age 83 passed away on Tuesday January 4 2011. A funeral service in his honor will be held on at 11:00 AM Saturday January 8 2010 at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes followed by an interment and military honors at Daytona Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Len was born in Daugavpils Latvia to Augustus and Marta Akmentins. He was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict awarded two purple hearts and dedicated his talents as a Bank Officer. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason Lodge of New Jersey 32 degree and of the American Legion. He was a dedicated loving father husband and grandfather who enjoyed golf walking and spending time at his RV in Valdosta GA. He was preceded in death by his parents a sister and his son Clarence ""Buzz"" Akmentins. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 60 years Jane Akmentins; three sons Gary (Eileen) Akmentins Eric (Robin) Akmentins and Doug (Wendy) Akmentins; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grand-children.
