Kenneth E. McDonald Sr. 84 of Ponce Inlet passed away on Friday December 7th 2012.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona on Wednesday December 12th 2012. The family will receive guests at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Kenneth was born on March 23rd 1928 in Chicago Illinois to the late Ida P. Pearson and John B. McDonald. He served from1944 -1953 in the United States Navy and was a proud Veteran of WWII. Kenneth retired from the South Bend Police Department after twenty years of faithful service having attained the rank of Assistant Chief. During his time on the force he was able to attend the F.B.I. National Academy where he also had the chance to meet J. Edgar Hoover. In 1990 he and his wife Phyllis moved to Florida to enjoy retirement and be with family. Kenneth was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police American Legion and the Moose Lodge all in South Bend Indiana.
Kenneth was a devoted husband loving father grandfather and caring friend. He will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years Phyllis M. (Sivek) McDonald; children; Kenneth E. (Mary Lou) McDonald Jr. of Ormond Beach Florida James (Tea') McDonald of Fountain Hills Arizona Beverly (Roger) Barr of Stamford Connecticut and Barbara Dixon of Daytona Beach Florida. Kenneth also leaves behind his sister Aileen Cooney of Jackson Georgia eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida P. and John B. McDonald and sister Norma Weber.
