Kenneth Arnold Camenga was born June 11 1910 on the family farm near Brookfield NY son of Claude Whitford Camenga and Florence Clarke Camenga. He passed away on September 18 2007 in Whitewater Wisconsin following a brief illness.
Kenneth attended Milton College Milton Wisconsin graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1932. Prior to his final year at Milton he married Evalyn Skaggs. Graduating at the depth of the depression Kenneth and Evalyn returned to the family farm near Brookfield where they worked with his parents until he secured employment with a large food manufacturing company. His duties included quality assurance product formulation and process development. In 1945 the company transferred Kenneth to their factory in Beaver Dam Wisconsin where he continued to work until retirement in 1975. In his retirement years he served as a food product development consultant.
Kenneth had a wide range of practical interests including home construction electronics and travel. He was a member of Barbershoppers and Toastmasters serving as president of both groups. He served several terms on the Beaver Dam School Board including time as treasurer vice-president and president.
Kenneth and Evalyn had been active in Seventh Day Baptist churches throughout their earlier lives so they chose Daytona Beach for retirement in large part because of the Seventh Day Baptist Church located here. The church recognized Kenneth's willing service and dedication calling him to ordination as a deacon. He also served as vice-president and trustee of the church. Many visitors commented on his ability to make them feel welcome.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Evalyn (married 76 years) three brothers Carlos Harold and Lawrence; and one sister Elmina Camenga Warner Sholtz. He is survived by three sons Rev. C. Justin of Ashaway RI Dr. David L. of Eau Claire WI and Rev. John H. of South Daytona FL. There are also nine grand-children and twenty great-grand-children.
Pastor Wray Winborne of the Seventh Day Baptist Church will officiate at the memorial service which will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday September 26 at the Lohman-Daytona Funeral Home 1423Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach. Visitors will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening September 25 at the funeral home.
