Funeral Services for Katie Marie Whitmire of New Smyrna FL who passed away Saturday April 22 2006 will be Thursday April 27 2006 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday April 26 2006 from 6-8 PM at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Burial will follow the service on Thursday in the Daytona Memorial Park. Katie was born on December 30 1923 in Benton TN. She was a kind-hearted animal lover having had many cats and dogs in her life. She was an artesian and worked in sea shells and other mediums. Ms. Whitmire was also a country-western singer and guitar player who was heard on the radio and enjoyed by many people. She moved to New Smyrna in 1950 from Signal Mountain TN and met Ed Swindell with whom she spent the next 56 years as her soul mate. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Whitmire is survived by a sister Mary Lou Miles and numerous loving nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by 6 brothers; Ralph Percy Floyd Jay Spence and Doyle Whitmire; and 1 sister Edith Hunley. Condolences may be shared with the family online @ www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
