Kathleen Stanger, a longtime Port Orange resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2016.
Kathy was born in Edison New Jersey on October 11, 1951 the daughter of Raymond and Josephine Schnitzer. In 1993, she moved to Port Orange, Florida with her husband, Stephen Stanger, and daughters, Melissa Hammon and Jessica Mast.
Kathy worked at Winn-Dixie for many years where she met so many people that loved her. She didn't have too many hobbies but one thing she loved to do was shop always finding the good sales at every store.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 20 years, Stephen Stanger of Port Orange; two daughters, Melissa (Phyllyp) Hammon of Port Orange and Jessica (Jacob) Mast of Port Orange; and a step-son, Stephen (Erika) Stanger of Buffalo NY. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Natalie and Ashley Hammon of Port Orange and Haile Mast of Port Orange, also Audrey, Ava and Anthony Stanger of Buffalo; her parents, Raymond and Josephine of Maui; a twin brother, William Schnitzer of Las Vegas; a brother, Harry Schnitzer of Maui; a sister, Jacquelin Gargas of Maui; and many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that will cherish her memory.
A Catholic Prayer Service will be held Wednesday January 20, 2016 at 7:00 PM from the Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave Port Orange, with a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 PM till the time of the service. Her cremated remains will be sent to Hawaii to be scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers please consider the Human Society in Kathy's honor.
