Funeral Mass for our beloved mother Kathleen Alice O'Donnell Merthe 91 of Daytona Beach who passed away on November 15 2006 will be held at 11 a.m. Monday November 20 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Egitto officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Baggett & Summers Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes; located at 736 S. Beach Street where a wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Kathleen was born on July 20 1915 to the late Matthias and Alice O'Donnell in Elyria Ohio. In 1934 she married Wendell Merthe whom she met on a blind date and in1943 they moved to Daytona Beach where they owned and operated Kays Restaurant later called Kay's Coach House on Main St. for 35 years. Kay was a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and an active participant for many years in various church organizations. She was a loving wife and mother and devoted Christian who enjoyed homemaking serving and spending time with her family. Kay is survived by her sons Jim of Jupiter Ted of Ocala and Ron Merthe of Port Orange; daughters Patti Chester and Gail Johnson both of Daytona Beach and Sherry Barboza of Ocala; twenty grandchildren thirty seven great grandchildren eight great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years Wendell; sisters Alice Sibley and Dorothy King.
